Gee. I guess that sometimes it can be hard to get a successful, complete implosion even when you want it to happen and have all the time (and money?) necessary to do the job safely and thoroughly. But, wait. What's that?

It looks like the core of the building is still standing. Holy cow. Those imploders must be really stupid. Obviously Petros the Pooter is not in their employ. They forgot to wire the charges in the core. Or, maybe in all of the haste confusion of the busy scope, plan, salvage, plant, wire, clear, detonate day half-day they just forgot to actually plant the charges in the core.

A building in the downtown Miami, Florida metro was imploded this morning (6/28).
However, the 12-story structure which developers hoped to demolish in a "clean shoot" did not come down as expected.
While the outside of the building crumpled, the interior section held fast.
Word from the scene is that the explosive package in the center did not detonate.
The developers who own the building want to clear the land for a new 15-story building that will be an office and residential complex.

Scenario One - Petros the Pooter is a missing ingredient
It's probably correct to say that the missing ingredient is large
volumes of biological products from Petros the Pooter. Or Petros the
Poofter, as some British friends might say.
Essentially, the
science of it is that they forgot to ignite the explosives in the core
of the building structure. That is where the micro-local Fart Zone is
usually located, adding the extra "poof" to bring it down in a
demolition.

Jokes
aside, the failed demolition video (and there are many online these
days) demonstrate how hard it is even for highly trained techicians to
do the job correctly.
They can't even bring the building down, never mind get it to fall directly straight down into its own footprint.
The
amazing and uprecedented collapse of the World Trade Center would have
been a Top of the Tops event, breaking all records as a monumental
technological achievement if the crew that "pulled it" were able to
admit openly what they did.
We know what they did.
The
point now is to move from that directly into social action that is
properly guided, motivated and informed by this knowledge.
